I'm a member of the Mechanics Institute Library, as well as the National Writers Union and an affiliate of the International Federation of Journalists. The Mechanics Institute and Library will be at a The San Francisco Public Safety and Neighborhood Services Committee hearing tomorrow. The committee is made up of three board of supervisors members. With their approval, DaDa will be able to get a temporary permit for the space they are renting from the Mechanics Institute Library, enabling them to build out for operation. With this move DaDa Gallery and Bar will be able to expand its already important venue for creatives, writers, artist and musicians to talk, read and perform in the downtown communities, consistent with the Mechanics Institute and Library's already strong cultural mission.
